Income Prediction

A neural-network approach to predicting income from the US adult census, while surfacing the demographic and socio-economic factors driving each forecast.

Income Prediction (Adult Census)

Objective

The Adult census data contains information on individuals in the United States, their demographic and socio-economic characteristics, and whether their income is above or below $50,000 per year. The question is: can we predict an individual’s income from those characteristics?

It matters because it helps researchers better understand the factors that contribute to income inequality in society. This study demonstrates an effective methodology for predicting income from the Adult census data and provides insight into the contributing factors.
